Sometimes you do not get much notice that you will be taking a trip that requires you to leave the country. This can create many difficulties if you do not already have a valid passport, but there are options for getting a rush U S passport before your trip. There are actually a variety of options available for people who find themselves in this predicament.
The first option is to request rush processing from your local passport office. The fee to expedite a passport application is $60.00. This fee is added to the passport application fees or passport renewal fees. This is one of the more affordable options for getting a passport quickly. All requirements for passport applications are still required for rush passports.
It is a good idea to call your local US passport office to schedule an appointment if you are planning to rush a passport application. Most applicants do not need to set up an appointment time, but it is recommended for rush passports. This may be the best way to avoid frustration and waiting in long lines.
Another option for having your passport rushed is using a passport company. Be careful and do research into the company before using them. It can be a costly mistake to choose a company that does not know what they are doing or worse yet, choosing a scam or fraudulent company. These are rare, but they exist and can get you if you do not use caution.
Some companies can acquire a passport for you within 24 hours, but these services can be quite costly. The added expense may b worth it if you have a trip planned for the near future. These services request that you call and verify that they will be able to process your request if you are planning to leave within three days or less. Not all passports can be granted in 24 hours.
Some of these companies state that they charge only $99 for the rush passport service. This $99 fee is in addition to the fees charged by the government and will have to be paid separately. Make sure that the company you choose is a respected member of the professional community. These companies must go through the federal government in order to provide a legitimate service.
The U. S. Passport office can also rush ship your new passport to you for only $15 and this will help you to get your new passport in time for your trip. This is another way that you can get your passport fast without relying on a company to take care of it for you.
There are several options for getting a rush pass port if you need one. For a fee that is normally around $100, you can pay a company to acquire the passport for you if you find it more convenient and do not mind spending more.
