Nevada Demographics

With accordance to the Census Bureau’s figures concerning Nevada’s population estimate during 2007, the state of Nevada has a population close to two million five hundred thousand people. Immigration had increased the population a few folds more, thus Nevada earned the title of ‘fastest growing state in the country’.
The actual place of mass density and concentration is Las Vegas. This small gambling center had grown from one hundred people, figure squared after 50 years and multiplied by ten after 20 years. By the present time, most of the two million five hundred thousand that makes up the population of Nevada can be found in this city.
The racial distributions in Las Vegas are: sixty five percent White American, twenty percent Hispanics or Latinos, seven percent African-American, six percent Asian-American, and two percent with the minority groups. The state also hosts a lot of families with Mexican ancestry, some other counties (like Nye County) have those of German blood, and Washoe has those of Irish ancestries. Las Vegas is home to Italians, Armenians, American Jews, Scandivanians, Polish and the likes.
The Californian Gold Rush of the mid 1800s had also brought a lot of Asian miners (mostly Chinese), especially in Washoe county. These American-turned-Asians were then succeeded by Japanese farm workers by the late 1800. This century, most of the immigrants are from Korea, Japan, China and the Philippines. Because of this, Asiatown and Chinatown was conceptualized to serve the needs of Asian customers.
Nevada has a largely female population, with the ratio of men to women at a close 1 : 1. The state lives off mostly through the revenues of Las Vegas, thus most of the immigrants from South East Asia and the Southern Americas came here in hopes of work in the gaming, gambling and hospitality industry. Still, farming and construction work still make up for the largest employment with the immigrants living in Nevada.
