The Bullfighters: This is one of the better Laurel and Hardy later works, engaging false identity as Stan is a lookalike for renowned matador. Things really get funny when Stan is thrown in with the bull. Cast includes Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Margo Wood, Richard Aisle, and Carol Andrews. (61 minutes, 1945)
Spellbound: This is a wonderful documentary that follows 8 extremely variant youthful contestants who partake in the 1999 Nationwide Spelling Bee. This film is an immeasurably amusing and often pointed assessment of notions in reference to prosperity and the American fantasy, with the very last spelling bee as fascinating as anything to be discovered in a fiction film. (97 minutes, 2003)
Fade-In: Strange little film made concurrently with Blue, in reference to a love event between film star Loden and guy she meets when performing on location. Not all that good, however an absolute curiosity on no account discharged theatrically. Cast includes Burt Reynolds, Barbara Loden, Noam Pitlik, Patricia Casey, James Hampton, and Joseph Perry. The Sea Wolf: Sharp Jack London story of fierce although intellectual ocean commander Robinson fighting a battle of wits as unintentional passenger Knox, a brash sailor Garfield, and an escapee Lupino try to flee. Cast includes Edward G. Robinson, John Garfield, Ida Lupino, Alexander Knox, Gene Lockhart, Barry Fitzgerald, and Stanley Ridges. (90 minutes, 1941)
The Seniors: 4 collegians open a fake sex hospital, which mushrooms into a multimillion dollar business. The movie is alternately stupid and sarcastic, with some harmless nudity thrown in. Cast includes Jeffrey Byron, Gary Imhof, Dennis Quaid, Lou Richards, PrisciIla Barnes, Alan Reed, Edward Andrews, Robert Emhardl, and Alan Hewitt. (87 minutes, 1978)
The Big Trees: An ambitious lumberman Douglas runs afoul of a religious sect and nearly everybody else around him in this cornball outdoor melodrama. Cast includes Kirk Douglas, Eve Miller, Patrice Wymore, Edgar Buchanan, John Archer, Alan Hale, Jr., Roy Roberts, and Ellen Corby. (89 minutes, 1952)
Foxes: Foxes is about 4 teenaged gals try dealing with the normal’not in our town’ complications carried by growing up in San Fernando Valley. Adept cast and evidently genuine motives are sabotaged by rough storyline that just isn’t gripping enough. Cast includes Jodie Foster, Cherie Currie, Marilyn Kagan, Kandice Stroh, Scott Baio, Sally Kellerman, Randy Quaid, and Lois Smith. (106 minutes, 1980)
Ed Television: Amusing yam in reference to a despondent cable Television network that plans to televise a normal man’s life for every waking minute of the day and turn the meager sap into an overnight star. Cast includes Matthew McConaughey, Jenna Elfman, Woody Harrelson, Sally Kirkland, Martin Landau, Ellen DeGeneres, Rob Reiner, and Dennis Hopper. (133 minutes, 1999)
Barry Lyndon: This film is an attractive, methodically detailed period piece with megastar O’Neal as Thackeray’s 18th-century Irish rogue idol who desires prosperity however lets it go to his head. The film is long, intentionally slow although on no account uninteresting. Cast includes Patrick Magee, Hardy Kruger, Steven Berkoff, Gay Hamilton, Murray Melvin, Frank Middlernass, and Andre Morell. (183 minutes, 1971)
