Lightweight wheelchairs are designed for safety and durability and are technically advanced.
Some features of typical folding lightweight wheelchairs
The make up of the lightweight folding chair is they are made up of a steel frame which weighs around 13lbs and has nicely padded upholstery throughout. The arm rests that are padded too fold down to the seat level before folding the wheelchair. Other types of lightweight wheelchairs are the same but a rigid frame version where the weight is its advantage and is sturdier..

A Lightweight folding wheelchair is actually more geared towards older users who require the ease to fold design. The wheelchair is not designed for the user to fold up, but actually from the assistant to do.
A disadvantage of some lightweight folding wheelchairs is there lack adjustment to fit the user. As they are required to fold down any modification will affect the folding. Whereas rigid wheelchairs that can be altered as hey down need to fold in any way.
Due to this fixed design they normally are not that comfortable and are good for short trips and not for the whole day. But as they selling point has been they are light and ease transported they are still very popular with others.
Maintenance and Care of wheelchair
A typical lightweight folding wheelchair will require more maintenance than other types of wheelchairs. Due to the lightweight frame they are typically weaker and can crack and the front forks can bend easily which will make folding difficult.
Maintenance is important and if not used often should be stored indoors away from the weather as we don’t want rust or other things affecting the wheelchair. Last thing you want is to find when you need the wheelchair that it is unable to open or close.
Good thing about lightweight folding wheelchairs is they people access to the world and at the same time the ease of transportation.
