Even when the odds seem to be completely against us, with the help of a gratitude bracelet we can go one step further to a positive outlook.</p>
<p><b>Discovering the Importance of Gratitude </b></p>
<p>It&#8217;s a fact that there is always somebody worse off then us. That might seem like small consolation when life seems to be going along poorly, but recognizing the blessings that we enjoy is a small but powerful step towards cultivating a positive outlook.</p>
<p>Viewing things objectively by detaching ourselves can often be a quite difficult task. Any pessimistic thoughts or attitudes towards a given situation are only likely to compound the problem. Consider the situation of someone with a depressive illness; by the illness causing situations to appear far worse than they actually are, and other subsequent events needing to be dealt with are often interpreted in negative terms as well. This is where the downward spiral can begin. </p>

By keeping a journal of things to be grateful for has been proven as an effective tool to enhance the happiness we feel. By keeping a record of the many things we can be grateful about on a daily basis could include such things as an appreciation of our friends and family, the journaling of our children&#8217;s milestones or anything else you are grateful for. By searching for and documenting the positives in your life, it can be quite amazing to see how long the list is of times or things that deserve their own gratitude.</p>
<p><b>Maintaining a Positive Attitude with a Gratitude Bracelet</b></p>
<p>Maintaining a positive attitude by using gratitude as a tool provides you with regular reinforcement. <p>It may be easier to feel ungrateful about the bad situations and circumstance we are dealt with than to be grateful for those things we have, and the achievements we have made. Occasionally it takes something disastrous happening to get us thinking about how grateful we can be for the things often taken for granted: a roof overhead, a warm bed and hot shower. By identifying those things we should be grateful for is an exercise in positive thinking, and can actually change the way that we see things, and how it can balance out the effects of stress.</p>
<p>The causes of stress can be related to many different factors; however its definition is as a state where an individual is not in balance with his or her surroundings. We have knowledge now that the dissimilation between body and mind is of limited usefulness. Any type of trauma to the body can also affect the mind, just as negative thoughts can affect the body. Experiences of a stressful nature which prompt negative emotions can directly have an affect on body chemistry. In response to threat and stress, the production of hormones and other chemical substances, including adrenalin and cortisol is taken over by the body. </p>
<p>Fortunately this works both ways. A calming environment along with some positive thoughts can fight the mental and physical effects of stress. Allow yourself a bit of time every day simply to concentrate on the positive &#8211; even if it is as little as a few minutes &#8211; you will be able to remove yourself from the causes and effects of stress. </p>
<p>Learning to recognize nuggets of good fortune can radically change our perspective. Problems can overshadow the things that are going well and distort perception. For example, we panic about uncompleted tasks instead of rewarding ourselves for what we have achieved. Especially over a prolonged period of stress, we can develop patterns of jumping to negative conclusions. Focusing on things that make us happy is a powerful technique for disrupting that pattern of thinking and reducing stress. It can even boost the immune system.</p>
<p>It may initially be difficult to identify those particular things you have to be grateful for, especially if you are already stressed, tense and can&#8217;t see the forest for the trees. Take time to practice, and start with easy things such as a sunny day, or a new rose on your bushes. You will more than likely rely on hindsight to start, but with time and a little effort you will notice it becoming easier.</p>
<p>While training yourself to recognize the many reasons you have to be grateful, the amount of time you spend taking things for granted will lessen dramatically. Seeing that flower blooming will trigger the recognition for seeing the reasons for celebration. As this appreciation integrates into your daily routine and functionality you can, and will discover how this process will reinforce positive thinking as well as your capacity to deal with stress.</p>

<p>A positive affirmation is a statement you can use to replace a commonly held negative statement. For example, if you&#8217;re always saying, &#8220;I feel fat,&#8221; then a good positive affirmation to replace this sentiment might be, &#8220;I am comfortable with my body and am the perfect weight for me.&#8221;</p>
<p>Positive affirmations help you change your thinking by giving you something to lean on. They help you stay aware of your thoughts, which is the first step to changing them.</p>
